The outer bands of a strong storm over the Pacific will bring clouds and light snow to southeastern Russia, including the Kamchatka Peninsula, and northeastern China on Thursday. Strong winds are also anticipated across eastern Russia during the day. Meanwhile, a trough will trigger areas of rain and snow over the southern half of Japan and parts of the Korean Peninsula on Thursday. Precipitation is expected to be light to moderate during the day. Farther south, a lingering front will drag tropical moisture from the south across the Philippines on Thursday. The warm, moist air will fuel heavy rain and thunderstorms across the region and flooding will continue to be a threat in the already saturated country. High pressure will dominate the central portion of Asia, providing that region with mostly to partly clear skies during the day. Tropical moisture will fuel seasonable showers and thunderstorms across Malaysia and Indonesia.

In Australia, a low pressure system will fire up heavy rain and thunderstorms across parts of the Northern Territory and Queensland on Thursday. Flooding will continue to be a threat across those regions. A separate trough will trigger scattered showers over New South Wales and Victoria during the day, while low pressure could provide a few clouds over West Australia. Most of West and South Australia will see mostly sunny skies, although winds will be gusty along the shore of the Great Australian Bight on Thursday.
