Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday, May 17, 2008.

Two tropical weather systems will bring wet weather to Asia on Saturday. One of the systems will likely remain well off the coast of Japan, and will not cause much commotion for the nation. The beaches will see large waves, and some minor coastal flooding is possible, but unlikely. The second storm will be the bigger rainmaker. The tropical storm 05W will slowly strengthen before moving over the northern islands of the Philippines on Saturday.

Southeast Asia will also remain wet as monsoon rains have begun in the region. Myanmar which made headlines this month due to a devastating cyclone will likely see some flooding, but nothing on the order of the disaster that just occurred there.

In the southern Hemisphere, Australia will see some rain in the Southeastern quarter of the continent an upper atmospheric storm drops over Victoria and New South Wales. Heavy rain is anticipated around Melbourne and lighter precipitation will spread up the eastern coast towards Brisbane. The southern coastline of the nation will also see some wet weather on Saturday as a weak cold front extends northward towards the border of South Australia and Western Australia.

Weather History:

Did you know that...

Before careful when you golf. A golfer at the Fox Meadows Course in Memphis, Tenn. was standing near a tree when he was struck by lightning on this date in 1983. The bolt traveled through his neck, down his spine, and out a pocket containing his keys. The bolt then went into the tree nearby.
